ARTIZEN began its journey on a rooftop.
In the springtime sun of 2015, singer/songwriter Danny Glynn and multi-instrumentalist James Hendrix climbed a ladder in Alpharetta, Georgia in search of new perspective and a momentary reprieve from the day. They spoke of rising political tensions, the balances of wealth and power, of love, of friends, and of the future of the world. Together they made a pact:
To inspire positive change, however possible.
As musicians and friends, the two became determined to start a creative project built on love and freedom– thus, Artizen was born.
Through their early collaborator Veronica Planos (now Veronica Moyer) the band was introduced to Truman "Salsicha" Covington, an experimental drummer and EDM producer out of Decatur. Just as Veronica parted with the band to focus on her new marriage and child, James Hendrix was introduced to a talented singer and songwriter– Ms. Erin "Summer" Harris.
The addition of Harris brought a new depth to both the rhythm and harmonic texture of the band. A gifted songwriter in her own right, Erin's influence began to shape the emotive sound that would become characteristic of Artizen's suite-styled songwriting. The band made their live debut at Good Ol' Days bar in Cumming, GA to a warm reception.
Since their inception, ARTIZEN has performed at some of the Atlanta area's premiere music venues, including multiple performances at
the Masquerade, Smith's Olde Bar, MadLife, and Tin Roof Cantina.
Their unique combination of pop sensibility, folk rock, reggae, soul, funk, and psychedelia (with a healthy dose of positive wordplay and inclusion of LED flow-prop performers) has made them a standout within the Atlanta music scene.
ARTIZEN began recording their debut LP, We Are The Firekind,
in January 2018 at the world-renowned TreeSound Studios in Norcross, GA.
The album is tentatively slated for release in July 2018.
